Smitten Sorensens bio picture

Welcome to our blog!

Nick and Natalie Sorensen here. Thanks for visiting.

We have been married now for a year and half. We are LOVING married life with our two babies, Vixen and Maverick our Weimaraners. We love to travel and see the world together.

Photography is a hobby that I has recently began. It is a great record of our lives together with a very creative outlet for me.  I own a salon Kadiza Hair Studio in Lubbock, and Nick has www.hcgmarket.com and many other things to list going on.  We love to be busy!

I try to post a few times a week so make sure and bookmark this site or put www.smittensorensens.com/feed/ on your reader. Come back as often as you like. Comments are pretty much the coolest, so don't be a blog stalker and not say hi!

NOT FUN!!

you have GOT to love days when it all goes wrong, and you spend tons on pluming and a hot water heater at the salon….

NOT FUN!!!

woke up tired

Hubby gone

rainy day (wore the hair curly) guess that jinxed me

4 1/2 mo pregnant

a company that is probably going to rip your pretty little head off $$$$

blow the electricity TWICE

electrocute the worker

Burn a scalp with the inconsistent hot water

and ends with a bill of $1200 bucks!!! New hot water heater  and re-built the toilet…

Not the best day!

HOPE tomorrow goes better!

Wendy Sorensen - Natalie, I'm so sorry, you didn't need or deserve that. By the way that photo of you looks just like you! love you mom WFebruary 4, 2010 - 7:05 PM

17 weeks.

Catch up pics first…

10 1/2 weeks

17 weeks

Weight… Lets see last I weighed was 6 lbs up from pre preg.

Maternity Clothes… They are baggy kinda.. I wonder if I am ordering too big or that’s just how they are. Comfy nonetheless! I have got some cute things that I am actually excited about! I feel very cute in them. Some rugged boyfriend jeans (so jcrew) light denim for spring. Also got Citizen jeans so I feel somewhat normal! I AM LOVING CARDIGANS! I wear one everyday with a tight tank underneath.

Sleep… Mostly very well…I am like a ROCK. Especially when Nick is Home. I bet he wonders if I am alive at times. ;o)

Best Moment of the Week.. Finding out that it is a Girl. Still hasn’t become real yet.

Movement… Nothing yet!

Food Craving… Anything SOUR SPICY SALTY…………. NOTHING SWEET!!!  Pickles, Green Olives, Pickled Garlic, Vinegar, I guess you get the idea. All things I have normally liked for the most part, but it is all I have wanted.  Nick and I went for custard last weekend, and I passed and went for the Spicy Hot Dog. That is CLASSY!

Morning Sickness.. I feel great in the morning always after a Tall glass of OJ

Gender GIRL so weird to say it…but so glad to

Labor… Better not

Belly Button… Opening wider

What I Miss…. Working all day and feeling like going to the gym when I get home.. NO CHANCE these days! I did go yesterday and got in a great workout. Also having a tan, not that I go a lot, But oh what once a week changes.

What I am looking forward to…. Dressing alike! I always wanted me and my Mom to match and she never would! I will love dressing my little girl in stuff matching her Mamma! Also to having all my research done so I can actually make a registry. I read all the reviews and try to get the best product for the best price!

She is the size of a Turnip,  5in long and 5oz

Im in love already!

Sara - Let me know if you need help making a registry....I did days/weeks/months of research.January 30, 2010 - 9:00 PM

Me - yea I might just look yours up where did you register...January 31, 2010 - 9:02 AM

Allison Sansom - Hey Nat! That is so exciting! You will love your little girl. Can't wait to meet her!February 1, 2010 - 12:57 PM

Snowy Day Off

IMG_0383IMG_0384I am looking out the window all morning at this… Lovely it is a blizzard now as I type. I have been researching strollers all morning. It is so difficult because I have been reading all over the web. It’s such a matter of opinion. It is hard to know who will have an opinion like yours. You can’s really go off of looks. You want to get something durable and a ruputable company that will replace parts if something is damaged or broken…

Some say don’t do a travel system because after 6 months you wont be that happy with your stroller. Then others say it is the way to go… I am not good at decisions at all. I am definitely one to research! So I am putting the work in and I am just as confused!!! Who knows what we will do…

I am going with the BUM GENIUS 3.0 Cloth diapers and I am so EXCITED I think they will be wonderful! I now know I can get cute PINK ones. They look just like bloomers how great!!!! GIRLS ROCK!

detailaio_grasshopper530x310detailaio_openclementine530x310

Jamie - I did the exact same thing with the stroller! I just new that I wanted the Orbit! But, Shawn's aunt did all the research for us and got us a Peg Perego for Christmas. She said that she went to Kids Space and they went through all of the strollers with her, pros and cons. We love it! The car seat snaps into the stroller so its very secure when you use it that way. And they come in cute colors :) It might not hurt to stop by there if you haven't already!January 28, 2010 - 1:48 PM

Paige - Not trying to tell you how to do things...even though I do feel a bit motherly giving you this tidbit: You might want to talk with Cindy about using cloth diapers. She tried with Jackson, but found the diaper service to be more expensive than the disposable diapers. I'm not sure why else she decided to switch, but she was pretty committed to the cloth ones when Jackson was born and before he was probaby 5 or 6 months old had switched.January 28, 2010 - 3:01 PM

Susie - for newborns, i found kissaluvs fitteds the best. they contain runny newborn poo like nothing else. BG 3.0 are super too, but only after the baby reaches the 9-10lbs mark. they are too bulky on a newborn. good luck with cd'ing!January 31, 2010 - 12:34 PM

More on the BABY GIRL

IMG_0378IMG_0379IMG_0380

We walk into my appointment she starts preparing and says to me, “SO, HAVE YOU PICKED OUT NAMES”

I responded with a smile, “AS LONG AS YOU TELL ME THAT IT IS A BOY!”

She smiled.

I uncovered my belly.

She pressed the little instrument down.

In about three seconds she said…

IT’s a GIRL.

I SQUEALED…. WHAT! NO YOUR LYING…

She said, “Oh no right here bottom up, all her girly parts showing…

That was about all I remember from the whole rest of the sono.

I think my jaw was dropped and I was just staring at Nick the whole time.

No one in our immediate families has ever had a girl first, so it just seemed so unlikely.

I NEVER REALLY THOUGHT ABOUT IT!

I am super excited!!! Really I cannot wait…. The girl stuff you can do is endless!!!! My family keeps saying she will still be a Softball player…

My response is A DARN CUTE ONE!

I totally feel like God has proven himself to me. I have tried to plan and prepare my whole life. I am never surprised because I usually take over the situation. This was one area that he had total control and he showed me that no matter what you want and what you have planned he is in CONTROL…  That’s right Natalie no matter how many boy names you have picked out. No matter how sure you are because you roll out of bed feeling MANLY…

He has a plan for you and it is perfect!

I am so thankful for the peace I have felt knowing that this blessing is given to me from my father in Heaven who knows me better than I know myself. He knows what I can handle and what will bring me most joy…. It is a precious baby girl in the beginning of July. I couldn’t STAND it. HAD to go shopping. Hence the photos.

(The first one is from one of my best friends Mom the day after we found out. She was So proud she beat my mom!)

We have so much ahead of us that we cannot even imagine right now. Things that will be the hardest thing we have ever gone though. Also blessings and happiness that are brought through the greatest blessings we are able to recieve here on earth, our children.  I cannot wait to start this journey, and have a family. I know mine is so dear to me… I want my own to experience the love and support that I have growing up and still do.

Nick is scared to have another ME running around… He thinks I am expensive for some reason… His brother has figured out approx what a child costs in its life to 18. When nick told my Dad he laughed. Not THIS little girl and pointed to me… We are factoring a little more than avg. I am all for cute baby girl things. I get it prom dresses, weddings, makeup…. One bonus though we won’t have a HIGH salon bill!!!! GOT it covered Nick should realize this is HUGE. ;o)

Also Momma Wendy I am making you proud listening to Mozart as I type this…. We are hoping for a SMART beautiful little baby girl!

Amanda Drysdale - Don't worry, she will be so beautiful and smart! You are going to have too much fun buying for baby girl! I'm only a little jealous... :) And as for the stroller, I love my Graco that fits the infant carrier. It's been awesome through 2 baby boys, and we still use it. Like you said, so many opinions. Thats just mine. :) Good luck!January 28, 2010 - 10:02 AM

Me - Thank you... all the help I can get. It will be fun for sure!January 28, 2010 - 10:13 AM

Lorraine - Congratulations!! I wanted a boy first, too. I wanted all boys, in fact, and I had Ellen first, whom I adore, and now 2 girls!! You are going to be an awesome mom.January 28, 2010 - 10:59 AM

Jill Eddie - I just bought that same little flower dress from Old Navy. So cute! Congrats again!January 28, 2010 - 3:10 PM

Paige - Oh, this is soooooo exciting. You will be a great mommy to a little girl(remember your baby Cindy doll)and I can just see Nick with a baby girl!! He will be great. He will learn just how special little girls are and just like you are with your dad, she will think her daddy hung the moon. I'm so thankful baby girl Sorensen is healthy and and that you are, too. Now I can start buying her stuff!! Ewwww this is going to be fun!!!January 28, 2010 - 3:13 PM

Me - I do remember my doll!!! I was good to her! I know she will be a Daddy's Girl. I know i always was. OH IT IS FUN!!!!!!! I have got to start a registry people are already asking me! Cloth diapers have come a long way.. Now you don't even you a service they are made just like disposables but you just rinse them and wash them in the washing machine. I have several friends that use them and they just love them.. I will give it a try worst case I don't like them and we head to the store.January 28, 2010 - 5:29 PM

Lyndsay - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!! That girl is going to be stylin! We need pregnancy pictures...Im sure you are as cute as ever :)January 26, 2010 - 7:45 AM

Amanda Drysdale - Hooray!!January 26, 2010 - 10:06 AM

WHAT A SURPRISE!

So yesterday morning at 9:00 we have an ultrasound appt. We knew we would find out the sex of the baby.

Most of all we wanted the baby to be on track and healthy. That they were.

As many of you know from about 2 months on I felt strongly that it was a boy!

This was due to many reasons….

1. Nick and both have first born sons in our families

2. I was feeling ugly and had acne since day one. (I haven’t EVER had bad skin, and especially GOOD skin since I stopped drinking alcohol)

3. I have craved Man foods all along. I never eat any sweets. The sweetest thing might be yogurt. I want MEAT MEAT MEAT. Protein is better than sugar for all purposes Nick pointed out!

4. We did the Gender Predictor Test and it confirmed our feelings.

5. Nick and I only agreed on boys names. We have 3 that we like. Girls=0.  We were completely lost when it came to girls.

6. Everyone around us has guessed boy. I have one of my clients 6 yr old little girl was the only one that told me it was a girl….

SHE WAS RIGHT…

IT’S A GIRL

Britni - I'm soo excited for Baby Girl Sorensen. I can't wait for Miss Zoey to meet her best friend.January 26, 2010 - 8:22 AM

Jill Eddie - Yea!! I love my boys but it has been so fun buying all the girl stuff. She is definately more expensive already! You will be the best Mom and she will always look so cute. Congratulations! Tell Nick Congrats from both of us!January 26, 2010 - 10:47 AM

Melissa Wilson - Oh my goodness! I can't wait to meet her! She will be an absolute doll! I hope you haven't started decorating! Congrats!!January 26, 2010 - 2:32 PM

Rachel - Congrats!! That is exciting...you will love having a girl. I bet she will be the best dressed little one out there! Enjoy...and go buy something fun for her!January 26, 2010 - 3:48 PM

Jenn Miller - Congratulations! We are so excited for you both and know that she will be SO beautiful! (And I totally feel your pain about the acne--mine was never as bad as it was when I was pregnant. My friend in Dallas is the founder of Organicare (icareorganics.com), an amazing organic skincare line. She said Clarity Control clears up acne and unlike other products, it is actually safe to use while pregnant. I will be reserving nine months worth for baby #2!)January 26, 2010 - 10:40 PM

For all that have asked…

The typical day on the HCG Diet….

People keep asking me about the 500 calories… They go a long way! The drops curb your hunger too with no jittery heart pounding! ALL NATURAL! for real

While on the drops your body is burning lots of calories 2500-3500 a day. You will also take B12 anytime you need a little extra boots it does the trick like an energy shot.

  • Coffee or tea in the morning
  • Mid morning. Apple orange or strawberries
  • Lunch 3.5 oz of chicken and large salad with Balsamic vinegar. One the side two garlic Melba toast rounds.
  • Snack. Apple orange or strawberries
  • Dinner 3.5oz Beef filet steak with two servings of steamed broccli and and Melba toast.
  • Late night Herbal teas with flavored stevia.
  • I felt as if I could hardly finish all my food at times. You eat slow and are drinking lots of *lime water in my case!

    *It’s like a limeade!!!

    Hope that helps.

We have the at Kadiza now too if you want to swing by and get some

(or  football, rugby, soccer, golfer, basketball or anything else he decides to be. )

I was sure excited that morning to turn the corner and tell Nick he would have a SON!

He will be such a good father and role model for my son to mature into a great man! Thank you.

We find out for sure in a little over a WEEK! Stay tuned…

Niki - I took this test too! It was right :o) SO happy for you guys!!January 18, 2010 - 10:28 PM

    Baby UPDATE

    How Far: 14 weeks

Weight gain: 9 lbs I think.. The CHEF PAUL for 14 days killed me! lol

Maternity Clothes: I have been wearing some pants to work. They are big but MUCH more comfy than adjusting the band all day. (bend over sweep hair+ adjust every haircut= boring) All my shirts and stuff are just fine though! My spanx tights I LOVE in the winter are out now too. Too tight feeling. Liking the loose much better. I did get the belly tanks from Target which I LOVE!!!!

Sleep: good most of the time except when the dogs mess with me, or when I have bad dreams when Nick is gone. Other than that, like a baby!

    Movement: Nope not yet.

Food Cravings: Last night I went to Walmart at 9:00 in 20 degree weather because I wanted cottage cheese! I haven’t had it in years.  Also this salad dressing from Dion’s. It is really vinegary!!! That is all I can think of. I want wings now but no one to go with so, I guess I’ll go to the gym!

AVersions: I found in Hawaii even the smell of sesame oil will make me puke!!! Its repulsing to me. Hmm lettuce wraps will have to wait!

Sickness: Ever so often at night

Gender: SOOO A BOY, IT HAS TO BE!

    No labor signs

Belly Button is in. It looks way more open than usual though.

What I miss: Laying on my stomach. Looking fit instead now it just looks like I can’t put down the Budweiser. :o )  It is getting closer to a baby look. Having a waist. I didn’t ever have a tiny one, but I did know where it was.

Looking forward: Getting to know that it is for sure a boy on Jan 25th. Purchasing stuff!!! OF COURSE! Getting a big belly so it is clear what has happened to me!!!

Milestones: Baby Sorensen is the size of an orange. (I do drink a glass of oj every morning!)

Britni - I can't wait to know what this little baby is!!! Glad your morning sickness is getting better. Only about 4 more weeks until little Zoey is here! You will have to come meet her!January 7, 2010 - 6:24 PM

    Me - OH i will for sure!!!January 7, 2010 - 8:23 PM

Jamie - Hey Natalie! I'm loving the blog...too cute. I love hearing about how things are going for you and your pregnancy too. I can't wait to hear what you guys are having; thats when the fun begins. I didn't waste anytime on the shopping! Hope you continue to feel good! Take care.January 8, 2010 - 8:27 AM

Amanda Drysdale - What a cute post! You are so funny... I'm glad your oj in the morning is helping "him" grow. :)January 8, 2010 - 2:03 PM

Me - just everything about me seems like a boy... I have had man cravings the whole time... Maybe it's all in my head.. I want a boy!January 14, 2010 - 7:11 PM

    One scary day!

Yesterday morning Nick left for Dallas at 4am. I got up like normal got ready for Church. Prayed over my lesson. Then headed out the door. I had been borrowing my parents Porche Boxter because Nick had mine while his was in the shop. I got in and tried to start it. it was dead. They have to stay plugged in when not being driven for long periods. I get a hold of Matt and he makes it to the rescue. I have to let it idle for a bit then I head to Church.

On my way a girl pulls out right in front of me never looks and I didn’t have much choice I was already going 40. I try to swerve. She hits me passenger side. Sends me spinning into oncoming traffic. I had no clue what to do with it being that tiny roadster! No other cars were involved thank goodness. It took police and hr and a half to get there. Scary!
I felt ok though. I had a dr. appt this morning and she made sure I was ok and everything. I heard the heartbeat which will help me sleep better tonight.

Thank u Lord for keeping me and my baby safe!

Britni - Oh gosh. Glad you and baby are okay!!!January 4, 2010 - 10:16 PM

    haley - oh my!!! i'm glad you're ok!!!!January 5, 2010 - 7:28 AM

katie - Holy Cow!!! Glad you and baby are alright!!! We got in a car accident the week before I delivered Mia so I know that feeling of being so worried and concerned about the little one!!!January 6, 2010 - 11:19 PM

Melissa Wilson - Oh, I am so sorry! That is terrible! No wonder I didn't see you on Sunday...I am so glad you are ok!January 7, 2010 - 12:27 PM
